SAND Compensation: How the Claim Process Works

Following the August 22 exploit on Base and BNB Smart Chain (BSC), we committed to a full compensation plan for affected users. This article explains how that plan works, who is eligible, and how to claim.

The Compensation Principle

Every wallet that legitimately held bridged SAND on Base or BNB Smart Chain immediately before the exploit is eligible for full compensation, 1:1, in SAND on Ethereum.

This is a restitution model: if you held SAND on the affected networks before the incident, you are entitled to the equivalent amount back, in full.

Nothing a holder has done since the exploit (trading, moving funds, or leaving them untouched) changes their entitlement. Compensation is based entirely on the pre-incident snapshot.

How Eligibility Was Determined

Entitlements are calculated from on-chain balances recorded immediately before the contract was hijacked: Base block https://basescan.org/block/50283188 (August 21, 2026 at 23:42:03 UTC) and BSC block https://bscscan.com/block/117322025 (August 21, 2026 at 11:42:44 UTC) +UTC). This snapshot was taken independently of any user action, and reflects exactly what was legitimately held on each network at that moment.

Because the snapshot is fixed and based on public on-chain data, eligibility does not depend on filling out a form, providing documentation, or proving anything beyond holding the affected wallet.

Two Tracks: Exchanges and Individual Holders

Users who held SAND on Base or BSC via a centralized exchange: no action is required from you as we are already in discussions with the exchanges to process the compensation.

Users who held SAND on Base or BSC via individual wallets: please proceed to the claim page below to receive your compensation.

How to Claim

The claim page is live at claim.sandbox.game and will be open from Tuesday, September 8 to Tuesday, September 22, 2026, 4pm UTC.

Claiming requires only a single transaction from the wallet that held SAND at the time of the snapshot:

• No token approvals required
• No off-chain message signing required
• No funds need to be sent anywhere

If anything asks you for more than a transaction from your own wallet, it is not us, treat it as a scam.

What Happens If You Miss the Claim Window

Missed the September 22 deadline? Contact us directly at [email protected] and we'll handle your request individually. Late claims will be accepted on a case-by-case basis through the end of October.

Our team will never DM you first, and we will never ask you to approve a token, sign an off-chain message, or send funds as part of this process. All official information is published through our verified X account and at claim.sandbox.game.
