Take your creativity to the next level with the Community Avatar Design Contest. This time, you can use any medium you like to design your own Avatar!

Whether you prefer VoxEdit, pen and paper, or want to go all out with needle felting or crochet, how you create is up to you.

The top 10 winners will collaborate with our teams to turn their designs into real Avatars on The Sandbox! They will form the first The Sandbox Community Collection, which will be available for sale during the year.

Designs will need to meet set requirements to be eligible: 

• Be a humanoid character/ bipedal 
• Avatars utilize “True Voxel Form” and cannot include super-detailed elements. 
• Preferred to fit a Medium Human template size if using VoxEdit

Important: Due to these designs being produced into real Avatars, you’ll be giving The Sandbox Game rights to mint and sell these Avatars. Each winner will receive one copy of their designed Avatar. 

Prizes 🏆

10,000 SAND will be split amongst the top entries in the following ways: The top 10 Winners each receive 1,000 SAND and will be a part of the upcoming collection.

IMPORTANT: Prizes will be sent to your Claims page. KYC is needed to receive SAND prizes. We are hard at work integrating a new KYC provider. For that reason, these prizes will not be subject to an expiration date and can be claimed once KYC is completed.

How To Submit Your Entry

• Create a PNG or GIF of your design. 
• Tweet your asset’s GIF and mention @TheSandboxGame by replying to the Announcement Tweet on X.

Important Entry Guidelines ⚠️ 

• You can use any medium you’d like for this contest, but you should keep in mind the Avatar requirements when designing. 
• Low-quality or spammed entries with little to no effort may be disqualified at The Sandbox’s discretion. Submissions that copy or falsely claim someone else’s work will also be disqualified. 
• Entries containing elements of any kind of discriminative or overly sexualised nature will be disqualified from the contest. Please keep it family-friendly.
• Your submission must be original and made entirely by you. You cannot make an ASSET of a character that belongs to someone else (ie, Marvel, Disney, Sega, etc).
• If a contest is in partnership with an external brand, you are allowed to use their logo, but cannot upload your asset to The Sandbox Marketplace.
• You can submit more than one entry, but can only place in the top with one entry. 
• Voting will be conducted internally by The Sandbox team.
• By participating, you agree that The Sandbox can use your entry artwork for promotional purposes. 
• If your design is chosen to be made into an Avatar, you are giving The Sandbox Permission for your artwork and permission to be minted and sold by The Sandbox.
• Make sure you have read and understood the VoxEdit Contest Guidelines.

Judging Criteria

Your asset will be judged based on the criteria below. Each criterion follows a scale of 1 to 5, 1 being “very poor” and 5 being “very good”.

• Creativity: How creative was the asset based on the theme?
• Aesthetics: Geometry, shape / Proportion / Colour Palette / Texture / Level of detail.
• Optimized for the platform:  Fits The Sandbox templates and sizing requirements
