Closed Alpha v0.3

We’ve got a whole slew of changes for you in this release, including new features, combat changes, and UI revamps. Let’s take a look at what’s new:

  • NEW FEATURE: EXPERIENCE GALLERY
    • Create and Publish your maps and experiences in the Game Maker for everyone to see and play in the Experience Gallery.
    • Visit our featured The Sandbox experiences created by our artists and designers.
    • Play and Rate others’ experiences. Give a star to your favorite experiences.
  • NEW FEATURE: PRESET SYSTEM
    • Presets allow you to create, configure, and store an asset with all its modified content, including logic parameters, all properties and values & child assets.
    • Presets act as templates from which creators can create new preset instances in the Game Maker.
  • IMPROVEMENTS: EXPANDED COMBAT SYSTEM
    • Improved Jump and Dodge mechanics.
    • Added an auto-targeting system to focus the Avatar attacks onto an enemy.
    • Added Attack cancelation when dodging.
    • Incoming attacks are now easier to identify through new enemy indicators.
    • Added Heavy and Thrust attack types into the game.
    • Added new VFX and animations for the Avatar, Enemies, and other entities.
  • IMPROVEMENTS: QUEST UI
    • Improved UI on the Quest Tracker includes improved graphic assets and animations.
  • IMPROVEMENTS: GENERAL IMPROVEMENTS
    • Improved enemy behaviors and pathfinding systems.
    • Improved camera system.
    • General performance optimization.
    • Known issues addressed.
  • KNOWN ISSUES
    • We’ve temporarily disabled 3x3 and 4x4 experiences as the team is working on resolving some issues related to them
    • For experiences saved using previous versions, image thumbnails won’t load in the Experience Gallery until they are opened and saved in this new version.
    • Victory condition shows all the quests at the same time.
    • Some quests can't be completed when you do the tasks previous to talking to the person that gives them, possibly blocking the advancement.
    • The Default Avatar when playing an experience without an Avatar asset doesn’t have the proper animations.

Closed Alpha v0.2

Will include:

  • Avatar improvements
    • Better game feel and upgraded movements, capacity to wear a sword and use it to fight
    • Your avatar is now a real ninja!
  • Fight system
    • The enemies detect you and will attack the avatar or other entities if set to it. They will also restore their health before attacking you again so be sure to be quick!
  • Objective system
    • Create your mini-games setting victory or game over conditions, with a time limit, pickable items and reward -build some quests to improve your experience and share it to players
  • Biomes / Blank Areas
    • When starting your experience and deciding the size of your experiences, you can now pick a specific biome to thematize it (desert, snow, nature…) or even start with a flat tile to build from scratch -by popular demand
  • New collectible behavior
    • To offer new possibilities within the objective system (local save only)
  • Rarity Component
    • To help you visualize in a glimpse your most precious assets in The Sandbox world
  • Various improvements
    • Behaviors upgrade for quicker interactions
    • Live Sync to have a better flow between the Game Maker and the assets on the dashboard
    • Terraforming tool preview and multiple selections to ease your building experience
    • Save file size optimization and land loading improvement
